Mary Edwards is a local photographer whose love of photography began at an early age. Her fascination with light and its fleeting nature often has her up and out the door well before sunrise in pursuit of those ephemeral moments.
Her landscape portrait “Early Morning Light” illustrates beautifully the transitory qualities of an early morning sunrise here in Wallowa County.
Second only to her love of photography is her passion for fish. The two blend seamlessly when she takes her camera into the watery world of the Pacific Northwest’s rivers and streams.
The subjects of light that catch her eye are as varied as the spectrum, whether she is shooting on terra firma, struggling against the current of a fast moving stream or capturing abstract reflections in the chrome of a classic car, her quest for light and form and magic is endless.
Mary likes to push the envelope where her work is concerned, creating and printing images that often feel and look like water colors. Her work has won numerous awards including Directors Choice for “Between The Rocks” and in 2007 she was awarded first place for her piece “Buick Reflections” at the Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts.
