Michael Holmes makes his home in the Columbia Basin of Eastern Washington. He graduated in 1978 with a Master's Degree in Fine Art from Central Washington University. A Royal City high school art teacher, Michael creates his sculptures in an area of Washington quite conducive to his primary interest in wild birds. His home town of Moses Lake is located centrally in the Pacific Flyaway and allows him year round opportunity for field trips and study.
In this rural setting, Michael uses his design sense to create compositions which portray qualities of his subjects that overlap and intertwine human emotion and values. Peace, love, freedom and security are all issues he has visually addressed in his bronze sculpture. more...
Welcome to the Gallery
Using symbolism, motion and beauty Michael creates the mood of each new bronze edition. An ardent and eclectic music fan, he often uses visual musical representation to help convey his feeling about an issue. With a desire to address the same emotions, Michael has also recently begun to attempt to capture the creativity and mystique of fellow artists and musicians in his work. With a careful balance between concept and composition, his sculpture speaks for himself.
